Writing Pictures – Text based art workshop

Are you curious about text-based art?
The workshop employs techniques from the visual arts and writing (e.g. collage) to create narratives from found and archival images with a focus on how we read and interpret images whose origin is unknown to us. From these, you will make a booklet and contribute to a collaborative artist book with fellow workshop members.
Extra info: Morning and afternoon tea provided – tea, coffee and biscuits.
Bring with you: We encourage participants to bring a selection of images to work with. Suitable images include photographs, postcards, stamps, books, posters, flyers, etc. A limited number of resources will also be provided.
Bio Notes:
Judith Martinez Estrada is an expanded media artist, using photography, post-photography, and printmaking in both digital and analogue formats to create visual narratives that interpret archival material. She has exhibited both in Australia and overseas. Judith is represented by Lost Bear Gallery in Katoomba.
Craig Billingham has published two collections of poetry and his short stories have been widely published in Australian literary journals. He is a Lecturer in Creative Writing at UNSW.
